We Really Need Your Help!

You know how badly kids in orphanages need families.

New programmes

ICANZ is developing new adoption programmes, in order to help children in a greater number of countries and to meet the requirements of the Hague Convention. This is an expensive process in terms of travel costs, ICANZ's time, communications, process development, and there is no funding for this sort of work in NZ. Your help is appreciated.

The Russian adoption programme

All adoptions in Russia have to be supported by an agency that has a permit from the Russian Government. ICANZ has worked hard to gain this permit.
This will enable us to provide more services with regard to Russian adoption. However the work has not quite finished. The next step before applicants can apply to adopt children from Russian orphanages is for the New Zealand Central Authority (CYF) and ICANZ to visit Russia to discuss and agree an intercountry adoption process which is consistent with the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption. An approach is currently being made to the Russian authorities to establish a timeframe for meetings.

While this happens, ICANZ needs to employ staff in Russia to set up our programme there, and work to set up the NZ end, all while we have no income.

We are a not-for-profit organisation and have very few funds to buffer us against hard times and increased costs such as the work of gaining our permit during a time when adoptions have stopped.

Please help us to continue to be here for families and to ensure that more children from orphanages find homes with families in New Zealand.
