What We Do
Adoption Placement Services
Children deserve to be raised in a caring, nurturing family where they have opportunities to develop their full potential. Our goal is to help families adopt institutionalized children with minimum costs and minimal stress for all concerned.
We provide information and help with facilitating the process of inter-country adoption. Intercountry adoption involves considerable organisation and legal work, often including a formal court hearing, with all communication and legal documents in another culture and/or language. Our services provide an effective, efficient and safe process through this maze.
Our experienced, trained team of professionals in New Zealand are accredited by the New Zealand Central Authority for Adoption, have years of personal experience as adoptive parents and can offer valuable advice and support. We view each family and child as unique and are available to speak with you personally as you build your family through adoption.
Adoption Support Services
Adoption is forever and ICANZ takes an holistic approach in providing the following services to assist adoptive families, before, during and after the adoption.
Parent Network - we co-ordinate a voluntary support network for adoptive families to help you and your children meet other adoptive families.
Search and Heritage Visits - we assist and advise you on searching for birth families or siblings or travelling to your or your child’s country of origin. We can help families with visas and arrangements for trips back on a cost recovery basis.
Educational Events - we arrange and sponsor educational functions and conferences to inform and support adoptive families and others working with children from overseas orphanages.
Magazine - we publish the ICANZ Magazine twice a year (since 1991) to inform and educate parents about issues concerning inter-country adopted children.
Library - we provide a library service to ICANZ families.
Information Services
ICANZ works to educate public opinion about the needs of institutionalised children, encouraging people to support children in orphanages and promoting the adoption of orphaned and abandoned children.
